CareFirst BlueCross Blue Shield has contributed $3 million to a group of 6 hospitals in rural Maryland.

The grant will help the hospitals participate in a program that will permit smaller hospitals to use critical care physicians in other locations to help monitor their patiences, according to CareFirst BlueCross, a unit of CareFirst Inc., Owings Mills, Md.
