Protective Life Insurance Company will be using the Web and electronic mail to get contracts to customers more quickly.

Protective Life, a unit of Protective Life Corp., Birmingham, Ala., says it will run an electronic policy delivery system by sending notification e-mails to agents, then having agents download policies and related documents from a secure Web site.

Once agents approve the documents, Protective Life will e-mail the secure site link information to the customers.

In addition to getting documents online, customers can provide electronic signatures and make premium payments online, Protective Life says.

To use the electronic policy delivery process, the policy owner must be the payer and the insured.

The EPD process is not available in New York state.
