The Association of Heath Insurance Advisors, NAIFA's health and employee benefits advocate, applauds the President's call for reliance on the private health insurance market in his recent State of the Union Address, as AHIA has long supported the expansion of Health Saving Accounts. The adoption of health information technology and medical liability reforms to limit costly and frivolous lawsuits are also AHIA-supported efforts.

AHIA actively supports efforts to make health insurance more affordable and accessible and we believe that a reformed private health care delivery system is the best means to ensure choice, quality and affordability. Reformation, not replacement, is what we need. AHIA is hopeful we can move the debate to consensus and action and looks forward to working with the Administration and Congress on improving our nation's health care delivery system.

Thomas J. Vander Wal
President AHIA
