The American College selected Carroll Walker as this year's recipient of the Samuel H. Weese Award, an honor given to individuals "in recognition of that person's leadership in service to the college's advancement efforts, highlighting the stewardship aspects of advancement." Walker has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 1958, was longtime Chair of the Golden Key Society at The American College, and former president of The National CLU Society.

The Financial Planning Association is currently accepting nominations for its 2009 Board of Directors, which "sets a vision for the Association, positions FPA as the heart of financial planning, and contributes to building the profession." Members of FPA's 2008 Board of Directors will elect the 2009 Board from candidates nominated by July 9, 2008. The 2009 Board of Directors will consist of up to 18 members, including three officer.

The FPA also called for nominations for its annual P. Kemp Fain, Jr., award, which recognizes an individual who "has made outstanding contributions to the financial planning profession in the areas of service to society, academia, government, and professional activities." Nominations must be in the form of a one- to three-page letter describing why the individual should be considered sent by June 9, 2008. The award will be presented at FPA Boston 2008 to be held October 4-7.
