Think Tank Publishes Retirement Plan Briefing

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company's Center for Behavioral Research has issued a white paper on use of automatic enrollment, deferral increase and asset-allocation features in 401(k) plans.

The briefing paper includes an analysis of findings from a survey of 400 plans with automatic features, according to MassMutual, Springfield, Mass.

The authors note that plans with default income deferral rates higher than 3% reported an average participation rate of 84%, while plans with lower deferral rates report an average participation rate of just 72%.
