American General Life Insurance Company has introduced the AIG Accident Expense Plus policy.

The policy pays indemnity benefits to insureds who suffer accidents, and it comes with an optional critical illness benefits rider, according to American General, Houston, a unit of American International Group Inc., New York.

The triggers for the critical illness rider are heart attack, stroke and cancer, American General says.

Benefit payments are not coordinated with payments from the insured's major medical plan, the company says.
