Michael Carmen manages $9 billion for Wellington Management and The Hartford. He is senior VP and equity portfolio manager at Wellington, which sub-advises the Hartford Growth Opportunities Fund and related annuity products. Carmen is senior VP, partner, and portfolio manager of the fund since 2001, and also runs the Growth Opportunities portion of The Hartford Capital Appreciation Fund II. Since 2006, equity research analyst Mario Abularach, VP and portfolio manager, has worked with Carmen on the fund.
Both managers are CFA charter holders. Carmen graduated with a BS in accounting from the State University of New York, Albany, and an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business. Abularach holds a Yale University BS, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
