Brown & Brown Inc. has acquired LDP Consulting Group Inc., a benefits consulting firm.

LDP, Lambertville, N.J., was founded in 1972 and now generates about $13 million in annual revenue.

Although LDP's client list includes private employers and municipal governments buy benefits, the firm is best known for advising benefits buyers at about 160 New Jersey school districts.

Brown & Brown, Daytona Beach, Fla., is not saying how much it is paying for LDP, but it says Louis Della Penna Sr., chief executive of LDP, and Louis Della Penna Jr., senior manager, will stay with the business.

Brown & Brown plans to keep the LDP offices in Livingston, N.J., and Shrewsbury, N.J., as well as the Lambertville office, Brown & Brown says.
