A large U.K. insurer is getting ready to plant deeper roots in the United States.

Aviva USA, Des Moines, Iowa, a unit of Aviva P.L.C., London, says it has completed the purchase of land for the construction of a new, 360,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters facility in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Aviva USA will be using the new facility to consolidate three offices now located in downtown Des Moines, the company says.

Aviva USA is planning to build a facility that will comply with guidelines adopted by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System.
