A Midwestern insurer has come out with a new indemnity product.

Physicians Mutual Insurance Company, Omaha, Neb., says its new supplemental cancer insurance policy will pay cash benefits directly to insureds to help pay for costs, such as out-of-state treatment travel, coverage for radiation treatments and chemotherapy.

There is no age limit for coverage, and the company will not reduce benefits for insureds as the insureds age, Physicians Mutual says.

Base coverage for a healthy 50-year-old would start at $27.55 per month, the company estimates.
