Nearly 20% of U.S. adults report they do not have adequate access to the health care they need, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The adults who had access problems said they had difficulty with getting medical care, prescription medicines, mental health care, dental care or eyeglasses, the CDC reports in its latest annual review of the state of U.S. health.
Other major findings of the report include:
- About 30% of young adults ages 18 to 24 do not have a usual source of health care, and an equal percentage are uninsured.
