The Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions & Professional Registration has agreed to use State Based Systems in an effort to automate and streamline state insurance department regulatory processes.

The SBS is a Web-based service developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo.

The Missouri department will start implementing the system in January 2008 and hopes to complete implementation by the end of 2008.

The NAIC already has signed up 8 other state insurance departments to use SBS, according to Missouri department officials.
