The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies attracted about 1,400 attendees and 158 exhibitors to its latest annual meeting.
NAILBA, Fairfax, Va., a group that agreed during the meeting to bill itself as the "voice of independent brokerage distribution," concluded the 3-day event Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
In addition to approving the new tagline, NAILBA named the members of its 2008 executive committee.
Doug Mishkin, president of Algren Associates Inc., New York, will succeed John Felton IV as chairman, NAILBA says.
Mishkin, the son and grandson of insurance professionals, distributes life insurance, long term care insurance and annuities through independent brokers and advisors.
He started out as a career agent, then moved to independent brokerage in 1993. He has been with Algren since 1997, and he has been president of the agency since 2001, NAILBA says.
Before Mishkin joined NAILBA's board, he was chairman of the group's membership committee.
