Insurer May Buy Back Stock

Prudential Financial Inc. says it could spend up to $3.5 billion on buying back shares of common stock in 2008.

A year ago, Prudential, Newark, N.J., earmarked $3 billion for buying back stock in 2007. The company has used about $2.6 billion of the 2007 stock repurchase authorization, the company says.
