Only 2.6% of the Medicare beneficiaries who now have basic Medicare or Medicare supplement insurance coverage want to move into Medicare Advantage managed care or fee-for-service plans.

Researchers at DSS Research Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, have published that finding in a summary of results from a recent national survey of 600 Medicare beneficiaries.

The researchers asked beneficiaries whether the beneficiaries were "definitely" or "very likely" to switch to Medicare Advantage coverage in the next 12 months.

The many beneficiaries who are sticking with their current plans say they like their coverage and feel that they have gotten to know their carriers, DSS researchers report.
