Old Mutual Financial Network has responded to the recent controversy about professional designations by limiting the designations independent producers can use when selling Old Mutual products.

Old Mutual, Baltimore, the U.S. arm of Old Mutual P.L.C., London, says independent producers representing its insurance products may only use the following financial and insurance designations:

- Certified Employee Benefit Specialist

- Certified Financial Planner

- Certified Pension Consultant

- Certified Property Casualty Underwriter

- Certified Public Accountant

- Chartered Advisor for Senior Living

- Chartered Financial Analyst

- Chartered Financial Consultant

- Chartered Life Underwriter

- Chartered Retirement Planning

- Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist

- Life Underwriting Training Counsel Fellow

- Master of Science in Financial Services

- Registered Employee Benefits Consultant

Agents also can cite post-graduate degrees if the degrees relate directly to accounting, finance, tax or insurance, Old Mutual says.
