WellPoint, Aetna Close On Deals

Managed care companies have completed 2 previously announced acquisitions.

WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, has scooped up American Imaging Management Inc., Deerfield, Ill.

AIM, a company that uses the Web to help manage patients' access to radiology services and benefits, will stay in Deerfield as a wholly owned operating division of WellPoint, WellPoint says.

Dave Harrington, who has been AIM's president, will be president of the division, WellPoint says.

Another carrier, Aetna Inc., Hartford, has paid $535 million to acquire Schaller Anderson Inc., Phoenix, a company that runs health care management operations for Medicaid plans.
