June 2007 saw an increase of over 10,000 new jobs in our industry, says Jeff Testerman, vice president of BrokerHunter.com. This is the biggest increase since June 2000, he reports. It also sets a new record for total all-time employment in the securities industry at 848,300 workers, beating the previous high-water mark set in May 2001.

It may not be time to celebrate just yet, he cautions, since the Bureau of Labor Statistics often revises its numbers, both up and down. Still, the industry has the right to be encouraged by the apparent strength of the numbers, coupled with other signs of a healthy investment business environment.
