Shawn Dreffein, president of National Planning Corporation (NPC) and CEO of the National Planning Holdings broker/dealer network of Jackson National Life, has retired from those positions, and will be succeeded as NPH CEO by James Livingston.

American Century Investments appointed Barry Fink, formerly of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, as executive VP and COO.

New York Life Investment Management Fixed Income Investors Group announced that Thomas Girard has joined as managing director and senior portfolio manager.

AIG VALIC has named Laurel Cochennet as VP and director of consulting relations with senior retirement plan consultants.

Mutual fund lawyer Thomas Smith has joined the SEC's Division of Investment Management as a senior advisor to division director Andrew Donohue. Smith was a partner with the New York office of Sidley Austin, LLP.

Standard & Poor's appointed Alexander Matturri as executive managing director and head of Standard & Poor's Portfolio Services unit.

Herbert Janick, a partner with Bingham McCutchen, LLP, has been elected the 2007-08 president of the Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society–a non-profit institution, independent of the SEC, which preserves and shares SEC and securities history through a virtual museum and archive at www.sechistorical.org.

Eaton Vance Corp. announced Matthew Witkos has joined the company as president of Eaton Vance Distributors, Inc.

AIG Retirement Services, Inc. has named William Hayes as senior VP and COO.
