Program Lets 10-Life Firms Self-Fund

A unit of Independence Holding Company is working with Group Benefit Services Inc. to set up a program that will let Mid-Atlantic employers with 10 to 50 employees insure their own health plans.

Standard Security Life Insurance Company of New York, a subsidiary of IHC, Stamford, Conn., will be working with other units of IHC to underwrite and price the new Healthy Advantage coverage, and Group Benefit Services, Hunt Valley, Md., will handle marketing and administration, IHC says.
