The parent of Standard Insurance Company has announced the departure of a top executive.

Cindy McPike, chief financial officer of StanCorp Financial Group Inc., Portland, Ore., left the company Monday, StanCorp says.

"Ms. McPike joined the company in 1998 and has served as chief financial officer since July of 2002," StanCorp says "The company and Ms. McPike have reached a mutual agreement on the separation."

StanCorp Chairman Eric Parsons has put out a statement thanking McPike for her work at StanCorp.

"Cindy has helped lead the company through many of its milestones as a public company, including its implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, public debt offerings, syndication of its line of credit and various acquisitions," Parsons says in the statement.

McPike intends to "explore opportunities as a chief financial officer or chief executive officer of another company, potentially in a different industry," StanCorp says.

Rob Erickson, the company's controller, will fill in for McPike while StanCorp looks for a permanent CFO, the company says.
