Issuing a "call to action," LOMA President and CEO Thomas P. Donaldson challenged attendees here at the ACORD/LOMA Insurance Systems Forum to take advantage of the association's growing number of Web-based education and training options to remain competitive in today's increasingly global economy.
"You are no longer just competing with those from other companies, but with those from other countries around the world," he said, citing India as one example of "a hotbed of talent and ambition."
Addressing the Forum's opening general session last month, Donaldson urged everyone to ask themselves: "Am I prepared to go head-to-head with the best the world has to offer?"
He added that one way to make sure the answer to that critical question remains in the affirmative is to continually keep up with the evolving industry and economy through ongoing education.
Donaldson, noting that education is "LOMA's core competency," said his organization is working with companies, associations and regulators to customize close to 300 courses to meet individual needs, with programs available in multiple languages and countries.
One big breakthrough cited by Donaldson is LOMA's e-learning initiative, in which participants can get training and education at their own pace and whenever they have time, without leaving their office.
