LOMA President Thomas Donaldson called for attendees here at the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum to increase their use of the association's expanding Web-based education program.

"You are no longer just competing with those from other companies, but with those from other countries around the world," Donaldson said during the forum's opening general session, citing India as one example of "a hotbed of talent and ambition."

Attendees should ask themselves, "Am I prepared to go head-to-head with the best the world has to offer?" Donaldson said.

One way for attendees to make sure they can compete is to use classes to keep up with changes in the insurance industry and in the economy as a whole, Donaldson said.

Education is "LOMA's core competency," and LOMA, Atlanta, now works with companies, associations and regulators to customize close to 300 courses to meet individual needs, Donaldson said.

"With our consuming work schedules and life in general getting more and more hectic, it's important to make education more accessible," Donaldson added, promising to keep refining and adding to LOMA's "just-in-time learning opportunities."

"Technology is enabling LOMA to be more agile in meeting the learning needs of our industry," Donaldson said. "Our customized e-learning options help you enhance your professionalism, streamline your operations and boost your bottom line."
