America's Health Insurance Plans says it is doing its part to protect the United States from a major influenza outbreak.

AHIP, Washington, recently completed an influenza planning guide for health insurers that was posted on the Web site of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

AHIP also has created an influenza readiness task force at the AHIP board of directors level, and it plans to participate in January 2008 in a 2-day pandemic simulation for private- and public-sector health care leaders.
