The Phoenix Companies Inc. has rebranded its fixed-income investment division.

Previously, its bond investment advisor was run under the mantle of Phoenix Investment Counsel, the investment advisor for all Phoenix mutual funds. Now it will operate as a registered investment advisor under the name Goodwin Capital Advisers Inc.

"Establishing Goodwin as a separate entity will help distinguish our products from those of other Phoenix managers," said James Wehr, senior executive vice president and chief investment officer for Phoenix, Hartford.

Goodwin expects to have more than $17 billion in mutual fund and institutional account fixed income assets under management when its investment management agreements are complete.
