Government officials will be meeting to talk about ways to increase U.S. children's understanding of banking, insurance and other personal finance topics.

The U.S. Treasury Department and the U.S. Education Department will co-host a 2-day summit on "Kindergarten Through Postsecondary Financial Education" in Washington starting Feb. 21.

The departments are organizing the summit for the Financial Literacy and Education Commission, a government task force that includes representatives from many federal departments and agencies.

Some seating at the summit will be available to members of the public, but members of the public must pre-register, officials say.
