The month honors the millions of friends and family members who care for chronically ill, elderly or disabled individuals.

The month honors the millions of friends and family members who care for chronically ill, elderly or disabled individuals.
"Family caregivers exemplify the true spirit of compassion," Bush says in the proclamation. "Their assistance provides those who may be ill, aging, or disabled an opportunity to stay in familiar surroundings and remain a part of their community."
