In the race to develop a service for advisors that combines content and client communications, Dow Jones is the latest to market with the launch of Dow Jones Wealth Manager Web Services. The service provides advisors with customized client communication by matching stories, articles, and features from national newspapers and industry and trade publications to individual client-specific interests and holdings and is licensed as an extension of the subscription that a firm has with Dow Jones.

The service is embedded into the firm's CRM or portfolio management system, making "Client News Matches" accessible to the advisor, who then decides what and how best to share them with clients, whether it's by phone, e-mail, or in person. Advisors develop profiles for each client, and then deliver news matches.

Forefield Inc.'s Forefield Advisor service provides a similar Web-based client communication-content service through many broker/dealers.
