A U.S. District Court judge in St. Paul, Minn., has issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting one insurer from using a trademarked name claimed by another insurer.

The injunction will prevent Aetna Inc., Hartford, from applying the name "Advantus" to a new provider network management and rental unit.

Securian Financial Group, a unit of Minnesota Mutual Insurance Company, St. Paul, Minn., has been using the name "Advantus" at its Advantus Capital Management Inc. and Advantus Series Fund Inc. units.

Advantus Capital manages fixed income and real estate investment funds.
