Personnel Changes: AIG, Assurant, Others

American International Group Inc. has hired Nicholas Ashooh be senior vice president of communications.

Ashooh succeeds John Wooster Jr., who has been handling the job on a temporary basis.

Ashooh previously was vice president of corporate communications at American Electric Power xxx, Columbus, Ohio.

Ashooh has a bachelor's degree from Marquette University.

In other personnel news:

- Assurant Inc., New York, has promoted John Egan to vice president of investor relations.

Egan has been vice president of administration at Assurant's asset management unit.

He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Manhattan College and a master's degree in finance from St. John's University.

- Aviva Life Insurance Company, North Quincy, Mass., has promoted Debra Fickett-Wilbar to vice president and actuary for product development and Tammy Leone to vice president of marketing services.

Fickett-Wilbar previously was an assistant vice president.

She has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland.

Leone has been Aviva's assistant vice president of marketing services. She has a bachelor's degree in communication studies from Northeastern University.

- Aetna Inc., Hartford, has hired Steven Meholic to be head of Aetna Pharmacy Management.

Meholic previously was vice president for specialty products at Magellan Health Services Inc., Avon, Conn.

- The Boston-based John Hancock Financial Network unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto, has hired Erik Sussman to be managing partner of its Miami office.

Sussman previously ran an agency office in Los Angeles for AXA Advisors L.L.C., New York, a unit of AXA S.A., Paris.
