Aetna Inc. has unveiled a national indemnity product aimed at retiree health plans and a group of products aimed at individuals in Michigan.
The national Medicare plan, the Aetna Medicare Open plan, can provide national coverage for retirees in areas where Aetna does not offer Medicare managed care plans, according to Aetna, Hartford.
Aetna hopes to begin selling the private, fee-for-service plan in January 2007.
Retirees who have the plan will be able to see any licensed doctor or hospital that participates in the Medicare program, and retirees can combine the coverage with other Aetna products, such as Aetna Medicare Part D drug coverage, the company says.
