Insurance regulators in the Yellowhammer State say life in their offices is starting to get back to normal.

The Alabama Department of Insurance had to suspend normal operations Friday after a water main rupture interrupted electrical and telephone services at its offices in the RSA Tower in Montgomery, Ala., officials say.

Crews used generators to restore electrical power to the offices Monday, but some department employees spent the day working in the dark, officials say.

Department officials still are assessing the damage that seepage from the water main may have caused to files kept in a storage room on the 23rd floor.
