One of the biggest health insurers in the United States is increasing its support for the American Diabetes Association.

The health insurance arm of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn., has agreed to offer health plan members a health risk calculator and other tools developed by the Alexandria, Va., association.

UnitedHealth also will collaborate with the association on a study of physicians who provide high-quality diabetes care, and it will let the diabetes association use its i3 DLN satellite broadcast network to present continuing education programs focusing on diabetes, the organizations say.
