MetLife Devotes $224 Million To Good Causes

A big insurer has published a summary of its 2005 charitable giving efforts.

MetLife Inc., New York, and a foundation affiliated with the company, the MetLife Foundation, gave $32 million in 2005 to a variety of causes, the foundation says.

Many of the donations went to projects devoted to education, community development, and projects addressing problems related to aging and Alzheimer's disease.

MetLife and its foundation also made $192 million in special loans to and investments in community development, efforts, according to MetLife Foundation President Sibyl Jacobson.
