Ex-Schwarzenegger Aide Rejoins Health Net

A former managed care executive has returned to her old employer after spending 2 years working in state government.

Health Net Inc., Los Angeles, has hired Patricia Clarey to be chief operating officer of its Health Net of California unit.

Clarey previously was chief of staff for California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Before going to work for the governor in 2003, Clarey was vice president of government relations at Health Net. Clarey also has been deputy chief of staff for former California Gov. Pete Wilson.

Schwarzenegger has a bachelor's degree from Union College and a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University.

- Health Net is eliminating the current positions of Dave Anderson, the chief sales officer at the Health Net California unit, and Jenni Vargas, the health care delivery officer. Anderson and Vargas will focus on strategic projects for the California unit, Health Net says.

- Sanford Herman will be taking over as chief financial officer of the Health Net of the Northeast unit. The current CFO, Donald Shassian, is leaving to take a CFO job at a telecommunications company.
