A Midwestern health insurer has chosen a wellness services vendor.

Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company, Omaha, Neb., has decided to offer group health customers the myhealthIQ program, a wellness program developed by Healthways Inc., Nashville, Tenn.

The program uses voluntary workplace medical exams to give employees personalized medical reports and give employers general assessments of their employees' health status.

The program also uses financial incentives designed to comply with health privacy laws to encourage employees at all levels of wellness to take steps to improve and maintain their health, Mutual of Omaha says.

Because the program includes voluntary workplace exams, it gives employers more accurate data than programs based on employees' reports about indicators such as blood pressure levels and cholesterol levels, Mutual of Omaha says.
