An arm of WellPoint Inc. is expanding a health insurance program aimed at adults ages 19 to 29.

UniCare Life & Health Insurance Company, Chicago, a division of WellPoint, Indianapolis, has started selling the Sound family of health plans to young adults in Illinois.

Consumers can apply for Sound coverage through the Web at Document Link

Underwriters will approve qualifying applicants within minutes, and successful applicants can print out what UniCare is calling the "flashy, colorful Sound identification card" using their own color printers, UniCare says.

Coverage takes effect immediately, and it includes some dental and vision benefits.

Premiums start at $68 per month, but UniCare will take applicants' age and medical history into account when selling coverage in Illinois.

UniCare says it also has introduced 6 plans for individuals and families in Illinois and 3 plans aimed at small businesses in Illinois.

UniCare recently introduced a similar package of products for individuals, small businesses and young adults in Texas.
