In a career spanning four decades, Mark Mobius has moved from the Northeast U.S. to the Far East, and from scientific research to investments, in a fascinating and diverse career. Armed with bachelor's and master's degrees from Boston University, and a PhD. in economics and political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mobius was a research scientist at the American Institute for Research in Korea and Thailand, and Monsanto Overseas Enterprises Company, in Hong Kong. He ran his own consulting company in Hong Kong, was a director at Vickers da Costa, in Hong Kong and other areas in Asia, and was president of International Investment Trust Company Ltd., in Taiwan. He was named president of the Templeton Emerging Markets Fund in Hong Kong when he joined Franklin Templeton Investments in 1987, and now is CEO of investment management, responsible for all of the firm's emerging markets portfolios and the analysts in Templeton's 11 emerging-markets offices.

Mobius has written several books, including The Investor's Guide to Emerging Markets (Trans-Atlantic Publications, 1994); Mobius on Emerging Markets (Pitman Publishing, 1996); Passport to Profits: Why the Next Investment Windfalls Will Be Found Abroad and How to Grab Your Share (Warner Books, 1999). More books about investment topics are slated for 2006 and 2007 with John Wiley & Sons.
