The philanthropic arm of a big East Coast life insurer is making large grants to organizations that help children and support homeowners.

The foundation, affiliated with Lincoln National Corp., Philadelphia, says it awarded a total of $571,000 to 30 organizations during the fourth quarter.

The biggest grant, for $100,000, will go to the Eagles Charitable Foundation, to support a book mobile program and a vision screening mobile program for children.

The Lincoln foundation also is giving $75,000 to the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity, to support Saturday Fun Clubs for children ages 6 to 14, and $50,000 to Universal Community Homes, which prepares local residents to buy, keep and maintain homes.
