Concentra Inc. has hired Dr. Norman Payson to be chairman of its board.[@@]
Concentra, Addison, Texas, runs the Beech Street preferred provider network, which includes more than 400,000 doctors and more than 3,800 hospitals.
Payson was chief executive of Oxford Health Plans Inc., Trumbull, Conn., from 1998 to 2002 and helped turn the company around before it was acquired by UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn.
From 1985 to 1997, Payson was chief executive of Healthsource Inc., Hooksett, N.H., before Healthsource was acquired by CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia.
Payson has a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a medical degree from Dartmouth.
