TD Banknorth Inc. is acquiring Boothby & Bartlett Company.[@@]

TD Banknorth, Portland, Maine, has agreed to buy Boothby and Bartlett, Waterville, Maine, a multiline agency, for undisclosed terms. TD Banknorth hopes to close on the deal in December.

TD Banknorth is a majority-owned subsidiary of TD Bank Financial Group.

Boothby & Bartlett sells employee benefits, life and health insurance coverage, among other lines.

Daniel O'Halloran, the agency's owner, and other agency employees will join TD Banknorth Insurance Group, TD Banknorth says.

TD Banknorth says the Boothby & Bartlett will help it expand its insurance operations in central Maine.

TD Banknorth now has 4 insurance offices in southern and eastern Maine, along with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
