Carter To Lead Nationwide Distribution Unit

Nationwide Financial Inc. has hired John Carter to be senior vice president of non-affiliated sales and president of Nationwide Financial Distributors Inc.[@@]

Richard Karas, the current president of the distribution unit, is retiring.

Carter previously was executive vice president of the platform distribution operation at Prudential Investments, a unit of Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J.

Carter has a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Missouri.

Nationwide Financial, Columbus, Ohio, also is promoting Timothy Frommeyer to chief financial officer, from chief actuary.

Frommeyer will succeed M. Eileen Kennedy, who is becoming global chief financial officer at Gartmore, a money-management firm.

Nationwide Financial and Gartmore both are units of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, Columbus.

Frommeyer has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Xavier University.
