John Hancock Long Term Care Insurance has agreed to offer the CareScout LTC provider referral service.[@@]

John Hancock, Boston, a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto, says it will be giving LTC policyholders access to the CareScout service at no additional charge.

National Eldercare Referral Systems Inc., Wellesley Hills, Mass., the organizer of the CareScout system, says it has negotiated discounts with a network of LTC providers that includes nursing homes, home health care agencies and assisted living facilities.

The average negotiated savings is $1,800 per year for home health care agencies and assisted living facilities and $7,400 per year for nursing home care, National Eldercare says.

National Eldercare also provides information about the quality of 77,000 LTC facilities, and it supplies care advocates who will help LTC insureds locate LTC providers.
