Scottish Re Group Ltd. has received government permission to open a representative office in Singapore.[@@]
Scottish Re, Hamilton, Bermuda, a life reinsurer, says it has hired Andrew Linfoot to run the new office as Asia Pacific regional director.
The new office will serve Scottish Re reinsurance customers in Australia, China, India, Japan and Korea.
The office will be hiring more than 12 life reinsurance professionals by the end of 2006, Scottish Re says.
Linfoot, who previously was president of the operations of Revios Rueckversicherung A.G. in Singapore, is president of the Singapore Actuarial Society.
Linfoot has degrees in economics and business administration from Macquarie University.
