A giant health care provider network is working with a company that processes incoming medical claims to reach out to independent benefit plan administrators.[@@]
MultiPlan Inc., New York, says it is expanding a 1-year-old partnership with HealthASPex Services Inc., Frederick, Md., to offer third-party administrators easier access to the MultiPlan provider network.
HealthASPex prepares paper claims and electronic claims for further processing by health insurer claim systems.
The new alliance will give TPAs the ability to hook up to the MultiPlan network by using HealthASPex as an electronic data interchange conduit or by using the HealthASPex claim "scrubbing" and editing system, MultiPlan says.
If an administrator simply uses HealthASPex as an EDI conduit, it should be able to hook up to MultiPlan computers within 30 days, MultiPlan says.
Setting up an EDI link typically takes about 90 days, MultiPlan says.
