Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. is easing life insurance pricing rules for more than 100,000 women who have overcome relatively mild cases of breast cancer.[@@]

Hartford Financial, Hartford, says it believes it is one of the first life insurers in the United States that will be selling life insurance to breast cancer survivors at regular rates.

The company is extending the pricing rules to women who are at least 40 and who have been treated once for a small, well-differentiated, localized type of breast cancer.

To qualify for standard rates, survivors must get results on common tests that show that they have a strong prognosis for survival, Hartford says.

The guidelines apply to sales of term life, whole life, universal life and variable universal life.
