An insurance agent in Louisiana is asking for help from producers and financial advisors for survivors of Hurricane Katrina.[@@]

Robelynn Abadie, chief executive of Abadie Financial Services, Baton Rouge, says she and her husband are assisting doctors and other medical personnel at the Louisiana State University basketball arena, one of a number of locations serving as temporary hospitals for survivors of the New Orleans floods. Many of the patients had been housed at the Louisiana Superdome or the New Orleans convention center before those sites plunged into disorder and mayhem, Abadie says.

Abadie is working in a temporary pediatric clinic at LSU while also helping move families into the private homes, churches and other facilities in the area set up to house victims.

She recently sent a cry for help to fellow members of the Million Dollar Round Table, Park Ridge, Ill., as well as to Women in Insurance and Financial Services, Larkspur, Colo. Abadie is a past president of Women in Insurance. The response was great, Abadie says, but so is the need.

She says victims sorely need diapers, baby formula and pacifiers as well as a range of supplies for adults, including soap, clothes, shampoo, underwear and even old eyeglasses. Checks to buy food are welcome, too, she says.

She can be reached at (225) 926-3400 or by e-mail at [email protected]
