Transamerica To Quote Through ION

Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company has agreed to distribute rate information for its term life insurance policies through the Insurance Online Network.[@@]

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, and Protective Life Corp., Birmingham, Ala., set up Life Alliance L.L.C., Birmingham, the joint venture that runs the free, Web-based ION quote system, earlier year this year as an alternative to "pay to play" online quote systems, Life Alliance says.

The system holds costs down by providing only rate information and requiring users to go to carrier sites to complete applications or check on the status of applications.
