A foundation affiliated with Principal Financial Group Inc. has awarded about $800,000 to nonprofit organizations in communities where Principal has a large number of employees.[@@]
Principal, Des Moines, Iowa, has big offices in Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Nebraska and Washington state as well as in Iowa.
During the second quarter, Principal's foundation earmarked grants for colleges, universities and local education programs.
During the third quarter, the foundation will focus on awarding grants to nonprofit arts groups, Principal says.
