The Census Bureau will be surveying more than 97,000 U.S. residents in 2006 about topics such as retirement planning and caring for frail and disabled adults.[@@]
The Census Bureau has described the survey today in a notice in the Federal Register. The notice seeks public comments about the survey, Wave 7 of the 2004 panel of the Survey of Income and Program Participation.
When the Census Bureau conducts the SIPP surveys, it selects the homes to be included in the panel, then interviews all residents in the homes who are 15 years of age or older.
Census workers interview participants in "waves" every 4 months. The workers ask participants core questions about jobs and income during each wave of interviews. The workers also ask supplemental, "topic module" questions.
